Mat Classes

Mat classes are the foundation of the Pilates Method. You will develop strength, flexibility and co-ordination, while improving body alignment and awareness. At its heart is the concept of both abdominal or “core” strength as well as back strength and flexibility. This exercise form is used by people of all ages and physical needs. You will leave class feeling strong, streamlined and invigorated.

Beginner Level 1: Designed for clients with no previous Pilates experience, this class introduces the basic principles of Pilates. Students will build core strength and overall flexibility while improving their posture through movement.

Beginner Level 2: This class builds on the intensity of the Essential Level. The overall pace and energy of the class will increase. In this class work-outs will include small pieces of equipment such as the Flexi-Band and Fitness Circle equipment.

Intermediate: This is a challenging work-out. Students will move progressively through each movement gaining stamina and strength. The full Intermediate repertoire will be included in this work-out. Flexi-Band, Fitness Circle, Stability Ball and Foam Roller equipment will be integrated into this dynamic class.

Intermediate/Advanced: This class is not for the faint at heart. Students who attend this class need to be strong, well skilled in the intermediate repertoire  and conscience of proper technique. Advanced exercises will be performed  and various equipment will be used.

Stability Ball: Students challenge their balance and core stability while learning Pilates mat/reformer and yoga postures on the ball. This class is stimulating and a lot of FUN! Prerequisite: Beginner mat course.

Small Equipment: In this class you will have the opportunity to try all the various pieces of small equipment used in Pilates mat.  You will learn to stretch over the Ball, balance on the Foam Roller, strengthen your arms using the Toning Balls, flex muscles with the Flex-band, work-out with the Fitness Circle and engage your abs on the BOSU.

Boot Camp: Just as it sounds a tough work-out, where you are going to sweat while doing Pilates Mat.

Equipment Classes

These classes incorporate various pieces of unique equipment designed by Joseph Pilates. The equipment work integrates resistance training with out creating bulk. Because of the size of the equipment, these classes are geared towards individuals and small groups of people.

Private: Private classes are recommended for students who want more in depth Pilates instruction or for anyone dealing with injuries. Programs are tailored to each client’s personal needs, goals and abilities.

Semi-Private: This class is designed for two students with a good understanding of Pilates, who have completed either 5-10 private classes or 1 or more sessions of mat classes.

Group Reformer (3-4): Students who possess a little more independence may take this more economical class on the Reformer. Prerequisite: Mat experience.
